Welcome to Mrs. Unangst's Classroom Page!

Hello! My name is Vanessa Unangst, and I am so excited to be your child’s 2nd grade teacher this year!

My passion is to create a classroom where students feel loved, valued, and encouraged to grow in their faith, confidence, character, and academics. I believe one of the greatest privileges of teaching is helping students develop a deeper relationship with Christ while nurturing a love for learning.

I am looking forward to partnering with you this year as we encourage, support, and guide your child as they grow both academically and spiritually!

Fun Fact

I've never broken a bone! And hopefully, never will!

Favorite Verse

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; in the future there is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing. - 2 Timothy 4:7-8

Hobbies

I love traveling to the beach with my family, getting lost in a good fiction novel, and relaxing with a great movie.

    • Fall Picnic, October 13th: See you at the new property!

Classroom Learning Updates
    • Reading Focus: We will continue working on reading fluency throughout the school year, with an emphasis on reading smoothly, accurately, and with expression.
    • Math Focus: We will continue improving our number sense. Please encourage your child to practice their math facts daily. Building fluency with math facts now will help prepare them for 3-digit addition and subtraction.
    • Science Focus: We will be starting our exciting unit on the Solar System very soon!
    • History Focus: We are currently learning about government and it's functions in this chapter. History tests can be more wordy and lengthy, so please make sure your child is completing their vocabulary words each week to help them prepare.

Classroom Highlights

  • Look at what God is up to: Students have been focused on learning each fruit of the Spirit through conversations with their peers and everyday life experiences.
  • Student Leader of the Month: Brooks Scroggin is a great friend and classmate to others!

Homeschool Tip of the Week

  • Keep a visual timer and provide frequent breaks throughout the day. Provide your child with a checklist to help keep them motivated and on task.
