Welcome to Mrs. Fulfer's Classroom Page!
Hello, my name is Amy Fulfer, and I am so excited to be your child’s teacher this year. I teach 3rd grade as well as 8th and 10th grade English.
My goal is to create a safe, joyful, and encouraging environment where every student—whether in 3rd grade or secondary English—feels valued, supported, and excited to come to class. I believe meaningful learning flourishes through strong relationships and open communication between students, teachers, and families. Please feel free to reach out with questions, ideas, or concerns, or simply to share how things are going. I’m always glad to hear from my students and their families and look forward to working together throughout the school year.

Learning, Growing & Going Places
-
- This week is HOMECOMING: Our special dress days are Tuesday--Wacky-Tacky Day and Thursday--Super Spirit Dress
- Field Trip: Next Friday, October 9, is the elementary field trip to the cattle drive going through downtown Waxahachie, followed by a picnic on the courthouse lawn.
- Fall Family Picnic and Vision Night: Tuesday, Oct. 13, we'll be hosting our family picnic on the site of the future home of Waxahachie Prep. This is a historic time for our school. We hope that you can all be a part of it!
- Library Books: Please don't forget to return your library books. You check them out for 2 weeks.
-
- Reading Focus: We will continue our study of Sarah, Plain and Tall, focusing on character development, setting, and how the author uses details to help us understand the characters and their experiences. Students will also practice making inferences and supporting their thinking with evidence from the text.
- Math Topic: On Tuesday, we will begin our unit on division. We will strengthen our understanding of the multiplication facts 0–5 we have recently learned and explore how multiplication and division facts are related.
- Exploring World Regions: Our studies are taking us through the history, geography, and culture of Europe. The landforms project will give students an opportunity to deepen understanding of the various landforms we will be covering in our studies this year.
- Young Scientists: We'll be wrapping up our chapter focus on Soil, Rocks, Minerals, and Fossils on October 6.
- Columbus Day holiday: Monday, October 12, is a school holiday, so there will be no classes or assignments. However, since we have assessments and homework due on Tuesday, it is wise to take a few minutes to review the reminders posted in FACTS Monday before returning to class.
- Safety Drills Coming Up: The 3rd graders did great with the lockdown drill. I'm confident they'll follow instructions and protocol well in our upcoming fire drill as well.

English News & Notes
-
- Fractured Tale: After finishing an essay on our Childhood Treasures, the 8th graders are writing a fractured version of The Goose that Laid the Golden Egg. They will be sharing these anonymously with their classmates. The class will vote on their favorite stories and the ones that receive the most votes will win The People's Choice awards.
- Literature: We have completed our study in the literature anthology and are about to begin John Bunyan's The Pilgrim's Progress in Today's English.
-
- The Count of Monte Cristo: After a solid Kahoot review, we are wrapping up our study of Andre Dumas's classic work. This will be followed by a very short unit on epics before we begin Homer's The Iliad.
- Vocabulary: Our vocabulary studies are more rigorous this year than in the past. It's essential to give it the necessary time, rather than procrastinating until the end.
