Where we started
In July, 2000, two Ellis County families recognized the need for a distinctively Christian school in the community. They began the difficult task of planning and working to start an independent and unique type of model, one that combined the need for intentional discipleship and quality education. Their work, prayers, sacrifice, and service resulted in the opening of Waxahachie Preparatory Academy, a Collegiate-Style Hybrid School in the fall of 2001.
WPA initially utilized space leased from Waxahachie Bible Church, establishing our accreditation through Cognia (then known as SACS) in 2008. In 2011, we made the move to Heritage Baptist Church, where we continued to grow in size and class offerings. Most recently, we relocated to Pathway Baptist Church in 2023, our current home. Our staff and administration adapted and progressed with the times until our advanced and rigorous academics landed us as the first collegiate-style hybrid school to be ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International) certified in the nation.
Where we are headed
Through God’s provision, we are building the school of our dreams just a few miles west of town! The passion and vision that birthed the school in 2001 remains strong as WPA celebrates 25 years of serving Christian families in our community. WPA alumni can be found, literally, across the nation and around the world, serving their neighbors, their country, the Body of Christ, and their community.
